Canadian artist Fraser McGurk, has lived in the Rocky Mountains for 28 years. He arrived at Lake Louise, at age 18, drawn by the excitement of mountain living and outdoor adventure. He now resides in Canmore, Alberta with his family. His two passions are mountain biking and his art – one, his vehicle of discovery and the other, his vehicle of expression. His involvement in his children’s lives is portrayed in his magical, joyful children’s pieces.

While having no formal training in the Fine Arts, he has developed his own unique style combining new wood materials with traditional wood-working techniques. Influenced by the works of other Canadian artists Lawren Harris, Ted Harrison and Bill Weber, Fraser uses intense colours and bold simple lines in his art. The wood medium combined with these intense colours and strong lines lends itself to the expression of strength, majesty and haunting beauty in his mountain landscapes.

Fraser’s original work is done in painted exposed wood inlay. While the originals sell quickly, they are available in limited edition prints.
